Studio Wayne McGregor will be hosting a series of monthly dance masterclasses. On the 12th of June you can join our artistic director Michaela Cisarikova

Each session will focus on developing your technical and creative dance skills with an opportunity to learn repertoire.

These workshops are suitable for non-professional dancers aged 18 plus with some level of dance experience. You may have trained in dance as a young person or at degree level and are missing the opportunity to move and work creatively. Also suitable for those teaching dance in education and community settings. Masterclasses will take place at Studio Wayne McGregor’s state of the art studios at Here East on the Olympic Park.

We are excited to announce that MCDC choreographer and Artistic Director Michaela Cisarikova will be Assistant Choreographer for Andrea Walker’s “HOME”: a new production commissioned by The Joffrey Ballet in Chicago. The work is part of a British triple bill alongside choreographers Liam Scarlett and Andrew McNicol. It will have its world premiere on the 24th of April 2019.

Michaela has worked with Andrea and his company - 201 Dance Company - since 2014. She was a dancer in 201’s break-through hit ‘SMOTHER’, and took the lead role in the company’s second show - ‘SKIN’ - which recently completed a UK tour. Michaela is excited for this next venture.

Michaela will be sharing aspects from her practice as a mover and creator as part of The Playground at Rambert on the 18th of January 6.30pm - 8.30pm. 

​

As a visual choreographer, the session will be aimed at collaborating with each other within the space through creative task-based exercises, improvisation and constructed material; exploring new concepts, working with a giant skirt as a prop along with light and shadow techniques. Michaela will also be collaborating with sculptor Shania Selvendran and musician William South.

​

MCDC opens its door to professional dancers to experience how MCDC work, train and create movement.

A strong dynamic class focusing on floor work, intentions, movement qualities and their control. Open class is taking part before MCDC rehearsals therefore the class will include mixture of improvisational methods for creating and generating new vocabulary, build on set phrases and work in contact with collaboration of other artists.
